Who can buy a raffle ticket?
Any California resident, 18 years or older.
How much does a raffle ticket cost?
Raffle tickets cost $150 each. Up to 3 people may enter per ticket.
How many raffle tickets will be sold?
18,000 tickets will be sold.
How many tickets can I purchase?
You may purchase as many tickets as you want until 18,000 tickets are sold.
How do I purchase tickets?
You may enter either:
(24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
(Mon-Friday 9 am-9 pm, Saturday and Sunday 9 am-5 pm)

Check or money order should be made out to “California Academy Foundation.” No cash will be accepted.

When will I receive my ticket(s)?
As soon as your payment clears, your ticket(s) will be processed. All corresponding ticket stubs will be entered into the raffle drum and you will receive a ticket receipt in the mail. Please allow 4 weeks for processing & delivery. Hold on to your ticket receipt for all drawings. Winning names will be called, not numbers.

To be eligible for the special, newly-added BONUS Drawing for $20,000, customers must have purchased 2 or more tickets in their name by September 29, 2006 to be eligible. Eligible customers will have all their tickets entered into the raffle drum for this BONUS drawing that will precede the Grand Prize and Final Drawing on October 28, 2006. Those tickets will then remain in the drum for the Grand Prize and Final Drawing. Tickets purchased previously will be applied in determining eligibility, and new ticket purchases must be made by September 29, 2006 to be eligible.
To be eligible for the Grand Prize and Final Drawing, tickets must be purchased by 5 pm, October 12, 2006. The final drawing will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at historic Santa Barbara High School. First prize is a Santa Barbara home valued at $1million or $800,000 cash; 2nd prize is $25,000; 3rd prize is $10,000; 4th prize is 5,000; 5th prize is $2,000; 6th-10th prizes are $1,000/each; 11-15th prizes are $500/each; 16th-250th are $300/each.
How many prizes total are there?
There are 265 prizes total.
By entering the Early Bird Drawings, will I also be eligible for the Grand Prize and Final drawing?
Yes, there are multiple chances to win. Each ticket purchased before a given deadline date is entered into all subsequent drawings. For example, Ticket purchased by the first Early bird deadline (May 26) will be eligible for both the first and second Early Bird Drawings, the Summer Special Drawing and the Grand Prize and Final Drawing. Additionally, all tickets – including winners of the Early Birds, Summer Special and prizes 2-250 in the Final Drawing – will be entered in the Grand Prize Drawing for the Santa Barbara Dream Home.
Do I have to be present at the drawing(s) to win?
No, you do not need to be present to win, but you must retain your winning ticket receipt for verification. We will call names, not numbers.
How will winners be notified?
Winners will be notified by phone or US mail according to the contact information provided on the entry form.
Is my raffle ticket tax deductible?
No. The IRS’ position is that amounts paid for chances in raffles, lotteries or similar drawings for valuable prizes are not gifts, and consequently do not qualify as deductible charitable contributions.
How does the raffle benefit the non-profit California Academy Foundation?
Raffle proceeds after prizes and expenses will be used by the California Academy Foundation to fund the Multimedia Arts and Design Academy at Santa Barbara High School and provide funding for additional technology purchases to be used by Santa Barbara High School.
